Model Texts - Ruth Foulkes

Plurals-

Show me, don't tell me...
Implied from the context of what is being shown.
Have an example of this..

The Moon was but a Chin of Gold
A Night or two ago—
And now she turns Her perfect Face
Upon the World below—
. Emily Dickinson

Bryce Courtney- The Silver Moon example.
Example from the book.

Listen and feel it- Write about silver or the moon
S himmering
I cy
L urking behind
V ainglorious
E verbright
R aised above the world below

Wanting children to express their ideas, scaffold themselves into it.
Leave enough time to write, plan, record, contemplate the writing. Set them up the day before, tomorrow we are going to write about the moon, go home have a look, notice it, discuss with family, explore how they feel about it.

Read to a buddy- what happens inside when you hear that. Prompt giving (ideas, prompts, discussions before receiving)

Good example of short sentences and rhetorical questions. The Iron Man- Ted Hughes

Character descriptions
The Twits- By Roald Dahl
As you know, an ordinary unhairy face like yours or mine simply gets a bit smudgy if it is not washed often enough, and there's nothing so awful about that.
Connecting to audience, anticipation that something more awful is about to happen.

Sheena Cameron- James K Baxter

Kenning poems- Verbs- An Island grows by Lola M Schaefer example
