Morning Rituals

It is a morning ritual I have with the students to greet them and their families as they come in to class. It provides me with an opportunity to find out what is happening in their lives. We also read, learn our words and play games with each other. It is a peaceful time for me to build on relationships with the students in my class and their families. I look forward to welcoming them through the door in the morning and hearing what they have to say. Often it allows me to understand what the learner is 'bringing' to the classroom emotionally. Today I learned that a student's cat had been put down so she needed extra care and support during the day. I was glad to know the information and be empathetic with her.

Setting up an appraisal blog

I have been working alongside teachers to begin an appraisal blog. I guide them through the process, ensuring they have the right settings for time, commenting, privacy. We have been setting them up using personal email addresses. I have enjoyed working one - one with others and it is a helpful reminder to me each time I do it to make sure my blog has the right settings or to play and make sure the template is reader friendly.
